Yukon's Memorial Tree
| |
A few days after Yuki died, some of our great friends wrote us a card, and decided that they wanted to plant a tree in our yard to honor Yukon's life and to remember him forever. On May 20th we had our friends over, had a bbq, and planted an oak tree in our backyard. We decided we wanted an oak because it was thick and tough and would last forever - just like Yukon. We put it in the backyard, right near the back deck - that's where Yukon would spend much of his time thinking he was 'guarding' the house. We can look from the kitchen, living room, or bedroom and see the tree and remember Yukon...
Here are a few photos of planting the tree.

I wanted to have a plaque made, not really a headstone, but a memorial plaque. It turned out really well and looks great under the tree. It's a photo of Yuke and text laser etched into a piece of black polished granite. The granite is cut out in the shape of Yukon's head.
It's kind of difficult to read in the photos. Click here to see the text.
Our friend's young son Charlie knew Yukon well, and drew us a card.
