Tetons - Cathedral Traverse
Attempt |
Crouse, TJ, Metcalf and
I head to the Tetons for a go on the Cathedral Traverse. Though
Crouse knocked a rock inuring Metcalf and got us lost on the first
peak (Teewinot) costing us hours and therefore crushing our dreams
of going for the full Grand Traverse, and with some route finding
difficulties to Owen costing us more time we eventually had to
make the executive decision to bail before committing to the Grand
- but all in all, we still had a good time. See
photos of the gong show. |

the Valley |
a perfect weather trip
to the Valley: B-rad & Perky do the Nose; Earl and I do the
E. Buttress of El Cap, and the East Buttress of Middle Cathedral.
Then we all hook up for the "Soft Man Link-up" (Snake
Dike on Half Dome AND the East Buttress of El-Cap in a day). The
4 days of climbing totaled 51 pitches and about 11,000ft of hiking.
Sooooo good.

Ellis Memorial Tree |
Just as we did for Yukon,
and exactly one year to the day, we had a bbq to celebrate Ellis'
life, and planted a tree in his honor & memory (photos) |

Ellis |
Ellis suffered what appeared
to be a stroke while I was out with him in the BD parking lot
today at lunch. I rushed him to the emergency vet where they got
him stabilized and ran several tests. Ellen met me shortly afer
where given all the circumstances we had to make the tough heart
wrenching decision to say goodbye to our wonderful brown man.
Needless to say we are devastated.
Ellis was 15 and a half years old and obviously a very big part
of our lives, bringing us endless smiles and joy each and every
day. He will be dearly missed. (Ellis
Memorial Page)

12th birthday. We think of him every day. |

a year after losing Yukon |
it was a year ago this
morning that we suddenly lost our dear yellow Yukon.
It hasn't been easy on us. I had been trying to make a scrapbook
for the last year with not much luck - just too hard. I eventually
set a goal to get it done before the one year anniversary of his
death. I changed direction and ended up making a coffee table
photo book about his life. It took a ton of time but was worth
it. If you're interested to check it out just ask me, or, and
not that I would ever expect anyone to buy it, but it's available
online here.
If you click on "book preview" you can get a preview
of the first 15 pages. A pretty cool, easy and affordable way
to publish your own books. It's over 150 pages of mostly photos
and some short stories about Yuki's time with us. |

Ellis is 15 and a HALF |
I figure once you hit 15,
you start celebrating half birthdays. Ellis hasn't been doing
great lately but was as spry as ever for his big day. Lots of
walking, playing in the snow, and even some swimming in southern
Utah/Arizona. (photos) |
